NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Honor has expanded its smartphone lineup with the launch of its latest budget smartphone — Honor 9A un Russia. The smartphone comes in Blue, Black, and Green colour options and is priced at 10900 Ruble (Rs 11,290). It will go on sale in the country starting on 4 May.


Honor 9A specifications


Honor 9A comes with a 6.3-inch HD+ display with 720×1600 pixel resolution. The device is powered by an octavos-core MediaTek processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone offers 64GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 512GB by adding a microSD card.

The smartphone runs Android 10 operating system topped with the company’s own Magic UI 3.0. The device offers a triple card slot which means users can use one microSD card and two SIM cards at the same time. Honor 9A sports a triple rear camera setup with 13MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, LED flash, 5MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture, 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front is home to an 8MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture.

The Honor 9A measures 159.07 × 74.06 × 9.04mm and is backed by a 5,000 mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers dual 4G VoLTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

Recently, Huawei’s marketplace AppGallery announced its tie-up with an artificial intelligence-driven keyboard app, Xploree. With this app, the Chinese company’s official AppGallery aims to improve the typing experience on Honor and Huawei devices from just word corrections to a higher level of intent predictions using AI and machine learning. Users will get multilingual support with a list of over 150 global and 28 Indic languages to choose from.

Xiaomi under its Redmi brand has launched the new Redmi Note 9 smartphone with quad camera setup and a big battery. The Redmi Note 9 comes after the launch of Redmi Note 9 Pro, Pro Max and 9s. The new Redmi Note 9 starts a price of $199 (around Rs 15,000) for the 3GB RAM/ 64GB storage option. There is another option with 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage at $249 or around Rs 19000. Colour options include White, Green and Grey.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Redmi Note 9 runs an octa-core MediaTek G85 processor with support for up to 128GB internal storage. The device flaunts a 6.53-inch display with Full HD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The quad camera setup consists of a 48MP primary sensor with F1.79 aperture along with 8MP+2MP+2MP secondary sensors. On the front, there is a 13MP selfie camera.

The device is backed by a 5,020mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The device supports Bluetooth, USB Type-C, NFC support and comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back.

Meanwhile, The Redmi Note 9 Pro features a 6.67-inch full HD+ display with 1080×2400 pixel resolution. The handset is said to come with a coating of triple Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back. Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro runs on Android 10 operating system topped with the company’s own layer of MIUI.

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor and packs up to 128GB internal storage. Users can further expand the storage by adding a microSD card. On the camera front, users will get a 64MP main sensor, 8MP wide-angle lens, 5MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor. At the front, the smartphone offers a 32MP in-display camera for selfies. Redmi Note 9 Pro comes in three colour options — Aurora Blue Glacier White and Interstellar Black. The handset is backed by a 5020mAh battery with 18watt fast charger.

NEW DELHI: HMD Global, the company which holds the license to manufacture Nokia branded smartphones, has launched its latest feature phone. The company has launched the Nokia 220 4G feature phone in China. The company has priced the device for RMB 299 (Rs 3,201) and is available in Black and Blue colour options.

The Nokia 220 4G offer support for 4G VoLTE and comes with a polycarbonate body. The feature phone sports a 2.4-inch display and it comes with a 0.3MP VGA camera with LED flash.

The device comes with Feature OS and packs 16MB of RAM and 24MP internal storage. The feature phone offers Bluetooth for connectivity and is backed by a 1200mAh battery. The company claims that the device can deliver more than 6 hours of talk time and 27 days of standby time on a single charge.

Recently, HMD Global has started rolling out the latest Android 10 operating system update to Nokia 6.2 smartphone. This was announced by Juho Sarvikas, chief product officer, HMD Global via a Twitter post. Sarvikas said, “Nokia 6.2 just got upgraded to Android 10! Step up to more with many brand-new functionalities and fun features!”

For those unaware, the Nokia 6.2 comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor and offers a 6.3-inch Full HD+ screen pure display touchscreen with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. It has a triple camera setup of a 16MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 5MP depth sensor. For selfies, Nokia 6.2 has an 8MP sensor at the front. The device is backed by a 3500mAh battery and comes with a USB Type-C charging port.

Xiaomi has introduced MIUI 12 at an event in China earlier this week. The new version of MIUI promises smooth performance with the help of features like improved visual effects, new animations & wallpapers, privacy improvements, improved Xiaomi’s AI assistant with AI calling, updated dark mode, and multi-tasking features, etc.

MIUI 12 Features

The latest version of the company’s s next-gen UI comes with a number of new features and improvements over its predecessor.

Dark mode 2.0

The new customized dark mode is now supported by 42 built-in apps, 20 mainstream apps, and several third-party apps as well. The new dark mode has font-weight adjusted dynamically to reduce glare and screen brightness is also automatically adjusted.

New Animation

It also comes with a self-developed physical animation engine that offers new animation effects like perfect rounded corners, advanced color mixing, real-time blur, and physical space motion.

Privacy Improvements

New privacy features include three new systems- Flare, Barbed Wire, and Mask. The Flare checks which apps have access to camera, mic, or location. The Barbed Wire checks ask only once, allow every time, or reject option when any app asks for access. While the Mask will prevent untrusted apps from accessing contacts and call logs.

AI Calling

The new AI calling is for hearing impaired so that they can communicate with others with a call. This feature can also answer spam calls and you can set other callers to be answered by AI as well so they don’t disturb you. You can view the call log later.

NEW DELHI: Huami has expanded its product lineup with the launch of its latest smartwatch — Amazfit X. The wearable comes in Eclipse Black and New Moon Gold colour options and it is available for order via Indeigogo crowdfunding starting at $149.

Huami Amazfit X comes with minimalistic design and it has no buttons and crowns. The device comes with pressure-sensitive sensors that enable users to access everything with the press of a finger. The smartwatch is capable of monitoring your heart rate 24 hours a day. The device also offers an infrared light test to measure the blood oxygen levels.

The
smartwatch features a 2.07-inch AMOLED touch screen display with 206×640 pixel resolution. The device shows time, steps, activities, weather, heart rate, notifications from apps calls, and more. The device also offers 9 sports mode and is capable of tracking sleep.

The device comprises of a digital microphone and is also water-resistant up to 50 meters. The Huami Amazfit X also has a Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) which offers easy to understand assessments. It also offers sleep tracking and also informs users about their stress levels. The device is backed by a 205 mAh battery which promises to offer 7 days of battery life on a single charge.

Last year in December, Huami launched 42mm Amazfit GTR Glitter Edition and Amazfit GTR 47mm Titanium smartwatches at Rs 12,999 and Rs 14,999 respectively. The Amazfit GTR 47 Titanium variant comes with a rubber strap. The GTR 42 Glitter Edition is embellished with 60 Swarovski Zirconia and comes with a white leather strap.

Both the smartwatch variations come with 12 different sports modes that include running, cycling, swimming, mountaineering, trail running and workout. Once the activity is finished, the smartwatch displays all the data collected like distance, pace, bpm range, laps, time per lap etc.
